Everything here, but I also want to add the correlation between military spouses and MLM representatives. (Observed on my own and in conversation with my boyfriend, who is an active duty Marine.) It’s incredibly difficult to maintain a career that necessarily has to come second to your spouse’s — and that makes MLM companies even more appealing to military spouses. Then they’re all selling to one another in an oversaturated market.

I have a family member whose husband is in the military and who lives only a few miles from my boyfriend, sells Pure Romance. Talk about the last person I want to buy sexual accouterments from. Her husband is in a different branch than my boyfriend, so my horrible hypothetical comeback should she solicit me is: “sorry, Marines don’t need any help.”
