There’s good news and bad news.

The bad news is that emerging is as difficult as it seems. Or worse.

The good news is that you can actually improve and have a chance. And there’s no need to overthink it in advance.

Yes, you’ll need an audience. But you need something to tell, first, and a voice. So, you need to read, explore, experiment, write, grow a small audience, connect, elaborate feedback, be patient. Maybe you already have clues about where you want to go but you’ll actually discover it along the way. Planning too much in advance will just stop your creativity in the bud.

When I started 15 months ago I was in your position, with just a bit more confidence. I wrote some awful stories, with no views/recommends/comments, then I started to learn the ropes. But it took months, and I started to have a small audience after several months of regular presence here. I never limited myself in topics, but some topics spontaneously emerged along the way and I even started publications around them.

If you mean it as a business, be aware that it will take years and only extremely determined and focused people can succeed.

If you want to grow as a writer, connect with interesting fellows, and maybe one day be prepared for something more, you’ll have a lot of fun!
