Why spending too much on computer hardware isn’t wise.
We might have encountered the following situation at one point or another in our lives, picking a laptop to purchase (in this case, a MacBook)

Should I go for the most expensive one and prevent my computer from being obsolete quickly? Or should I just buy something that is less pricey and kind of suits my needs ?
In economics, there’s a theory known as the law of diminishing returns. The law of diminishing returns suggests that the more computing power you purchase, the less returns in terms of performance gains you would have for you money.
Coupled that with Moore’s law, which states that computing power would double in speed approximately every 2 years, and you would quickly realized that it just doesn’t make sense to buy an expensive of hardware for future proofing.
Besides, if you are not actively using the system to its capacity, the idle computing power would simply be lying there in a waste.
