The two wicked individuals came to be recognized as the “Toolbox Killers.” Lawrence Bittaker and Roy Norris were a pair of sadistically violent serial rapists and murders who stalked adolescent girls around the Los Angeles region for five dark months in 1979. They used gadgets for torturing their victims that were more often found in the garage.

They would pick up hitchhikers from their van and take them to remote locations where they could live out their most macabre dreams of torture and rape.

For what they did, FBI profiler John E. Douglas would label Bittaker as “the most disturbing individual for whom he has ever created a criminal profile,” especially for the Halloween torture and murder of Shirley Ledford.
