An area rug in the bedroom can be an overwhelming idea, and however, you must ensure they blend to create harmony. For a cohesive bedroom space, you must place a rug that coordinates with the decoration in your bedroom. In addition to aesthetics, you must think about the comfort a rug would lend to the bedroom space as the bed and other furniture.

After you have picked up an area rug and well-thought aspects that bring aesthetics and coziness, you must think about the rug’s placement in the bedroom. Good placement can positively impact how beautiful and united the bedroom looks and feels.

There are three major bedroom rug placement ideas that, if done right, can create a cohesive space in the bedroom:

1. Everywhere in the room

If you prefer to have comfortable walking wherever you go in the bedroom, consider introducing a rug throughout the bedroom space. One of the bedroom rug ideas may require you to go for wall-to-wall carpeting, or you may even go for a custom-size rug tailored to your need for a rug in the bedroom space. If everything is done right, a large rug covering most space in the bedroom will enhance the room’s appearance and bring cohesion. In such a placement, the rug will cover the seating area, if there is any, the reading corner, and the dressing table.

2. Beneath the bed

Under the bed is one of the most preferred bedroom rug placement ideas for creating a cohesive space in the bedroom. There are several placement methods, however, in such an arrangement. You can decide to run the rug across the bed, covering the nightstands till the ends of the headboard, or stop, keeping it short and perpendicular to the bed.

The size of the rug depends on the bed size. 9 feet by 12 feet rug would be the most appropriate dimension for a king-size bed. However, a slightly bigger custom-size rug would be recommended for a large bedroom.

3. By the sides

You can opt for a rug beneath the bed that covers the bed area and extends on both sides. Alternatively, if you think it makes no sense when a considerable portion of the rug remains hidden under the bed, you can opt for two runners to place on both sides of the bed. It will also save you from spending some extra amount on getting a large size rug. The advantage of such a placement is when you get down from the bed, you will feel soft on your feet. While a smaller runner will just be enough for the feet, a long runner of the length of your bed will coordinate well to create cohesion.

A beautiful area rug placed well in an otherwise bland bedroom space can create an interest, adding color, charm, and coziness. The bedroom area is less exposed to foot traffic. Hence, you may decide on bedroom rug ideas and traverse through bedroom rug placement ideas that ask for delicacy, less treading upon, careful treatment, cleaning, and maintenance.
