“Someday is really just code for never,” said Tom Cruise’s character in that one movie. I don’t know about you but to me, that phrase is completely relatable. There are so many times I’ve said to myself “someday I’ll do this, someday I’ll be that,” but down the road, I never do anything to set it in motion. This month I will force myself to complete a project, to teach me how to plan and complete the goals I make in my mind so my aspirations will not just come true someday but now. I will be able to have a definite goal and a plan to complete it.

The Project

For my chosen project I will launch a website dedicated to students who compete in speech and debate and provide them with tips, resources, and encouragement. I will create an Instagram account to help me advertise for my website. Every week I will create content to help get the word out and build my following. I also will draft a social media calendar to help me systemize my content creation and social media posts to keep organized and efficient.

The Goal

The purpose of this project is not just to complete a project but to learn a set of valuable skills that accompany the experience. By the end of this project, I will gain the skills of content creation, community building, communication, how to plan a project and execute that plan, writing good copy, social media management, and design. I’ll learn how to use tech tools such as Wordpress and Canva.

Final Results

At the end of the month, I will have a fully designed and working website, my own brand, and an active Instagram account for that brand.
