Exactly. This is what Gretchen Carlson and Andrea Tantaros are having to go through. And doing what they do is a rather limited field — it’s not like replacement jobs are going begging.
But when the “solution” is “if a woman doesn’t like being abused and harassed, she should just go get another job”, that’s like telling a rape victim to just forget it and move on without making a fuss about getting accountability from her attacker. Why should the perpetrator get a free pass to continue? Why do you think it’s OK to allow sexual harassers to keep doing what they do? And why do you think that sexual harassment, career destruction, social media bullying and trashing, etc. are things that a woman should just shut up about and get over? Do you really think such things would have no detrimental effect?
Your cute little hypothetical would probably work if you were dealing with a man who mistakenly believed that his sexism was devastatingly charming, and would back off if given the proper signals. However, that doesn’t appear to be the situation at Fox News. There, they obviously have a situation with powerful men who believe that attractive women are there for their pleasure as a workplace perk, and any woman who doesn’t play along will suffer the consequences. Big difference.
