I find it utterly hysterical that in your rant against the mainstream media you bring up Project Veritas videos as some kind of credible source of anything.
By the way, any “journalist” who wants to see someone die from cancer is someone I have no desire to pay any attention to.
Yes, I’m aware that the United States has meddled in the elections of other countries. We’ve changed regimes and installed leaders even without the pretense of an election — just because it suits our interests. We tend to be bullies that way, and I can understand why the citizens of countries where we have done this feel the way about us that they do. This doesn’t mean that as an American, I’m thrilled when another country does it to us. And yes — you can bet your ass that I’d be just as concerned and just as critical if another country helped Clinton get elected through interference. That’s not the way American elections are supposed to work.
Now, about having Mike Pence as President. This really isn’t about a choice between Trump or Pence. Or between Trump or Pence or Ryan. This is about establishing what we are willing to tolerate in the conduct of our President, and what dangerous precedents we want to set. If we allow violations of the Emoluments Clause, then we set a precedent that future Presidents may live by. If we allow a President to openly and blatantly personally profit financially from the Presidency, then we set a precedent that future Presidents may live by. If we allow collusion with foreign governments to swing our elections, then we set a precedent that future Presidents may live by. Therefore, if we’re willing to look the other way on Trump’s actions, we’re basically saying that we’re willing to put up with these things no matter who’s President.
Well, I’m not willing. Even if the replacement waiting in the wings isn’t any great shakes either. It’s the setting of dangerous precedents that I wish to avoid.
By the way, you’ll notice that journalists who make stuff up do get fired. That’s the way it works. You managed to reinforce my point that when mainstream media gets stuff wrong, they don’t get away with it, and they pay the consequences.
As far as whether or not the Russia matter is a “false narrative”, I’ll say what I always say — let’s wait for the completion of the investigations. Then we’ll see.
