I’d like to think that Knight represents a possible trend of Republicans joining the independent investigation bandwagon.

But it looks more like Knight has accepted the reality that he needs to fight for his political life. Besides getting hammered by his constituents over the GOP healthcare plan, his district voted for Hillary last November by about 7 percentage points, and he only won re-election with 53.1 percent of the vote.

And now that Trump is dragging the whole GOP down (latest Quinnipiac poll says that only 38% of Americans would like to see Congress controlled by Republicans, compared to 54% who would like to see Congress controlled by Democrats), I’m sure Knight is reading the handwriting on the wall.
