In the first place, deductibles and premiums were skyrocketing before the ACA. That was part of the problem. Every year more and more people got priced out of the system. And this will continue with or without the ACA, as long as profit remains part of the process.
In the second place, if we had been able to pass the plan that candidate Barack Obama actually campaigned on — the one with the public option — competition with a profit-less plan would have helped mitigate the increases.
In the third place — what do you suggest that would be an improvement? Keep in mind that your suggested plan must be affordable to everyone, provide the same quality of care that ACA insurance provides, and be sustainable.
