My, my, my — how goals change.
First, we were going to have a “big, beautiful wall” — made of concrete and completely impenetrable and impassable, and would extend the entire length of the US-Mexico border. And Mexico was going to pay for it.
Then we were going to have such a wall, but Mexico wasn’t going to pay for it up front. We’d have to pay for it up front, but we’d get money from Mexico. Eventually. Maybe.
Then we weren’t going to have a concrete wall. We’d have a “see-through” wall. That the US would pay for.
And now we’re going to have something that looks mostly like the fencing that’s already there, and just adding a total of 70 miles in a number of “strategic” places to the 694 miles of fencing already there. And, of course, that the US would pay for.
Behold the evolution of a Trump campaign promise into normal added border security that would likely have occurred no matter who was President.
