Of course, no one succeeded in enabling more pipelines and promoting fracking than Obama and…

Nope. I’m employed. However, I got laid off from my job as a result of the recession that occurred at the end of Dubya’s presidency, and while I searched for another job I was dependent on unemployment benefits, as so many people who find themselves in that position are.

Fortunately, I was able to find another job before they ran out, thanks to a federal extension of benefits for the jobless because so many of us were having difficulty finding employment when there were very few jobs available at that time.

However, shortly after I found employment, our Republican-controlled legislature decided to cut employment benefits way back — so far back that they no longer qualified for federal help. And North Carolina was the ONLY state to screw their people over badly enough to lose federal unemployment funding. I was lucky. But it wasn’t the Democrats yanking away that safety net.

I am fortunate in that I rarely need the safety nets our government has in place for people who need them. My unemployment period was a rare exception. But I am grateful they are there when I do. It was the Democrats who put them there.

By the way, attempting to portray Democrats as more harmful to the environment or more anti-healthcare than the Republicans is just laughable. And pitiful, if that’s all you’ve got.
