Not sure what your point is, but I’ll try to explain the “fit” a number of us had.
First, we don’t care whether Trump keeps his salary or donates it to charity. It’s his to do with as he wishes.
What we object to is the LYING he does. OK, when he promised to “refuse” his salary, he probably didn’t know that legally, he can’t do that. The government is required to pay him whether he refuses the pay or not. We can cut him a little slack for ignorance (but not a whole lot, as ignorance runs rampant with him, especially in areas far more serious than his paycheck). The problem is that if one makes a promise to donate to charity and then doesn’t (or does only under a great deal of pressure to live up to their word), it counts as a lie, and just adds to the tremendous pile of stuff destroying that person’s credibility.
Oh, and another thing. Legitimately criticizing the actions of our elected officials, including the POTUS, is neither throwing a “fit” or a “tantrum”.
As far as Trump’s paycheck goes, he can keep it or donate it. We don’t really care. We do care if he says he’s going to donate it to charity and then doesn’t, until he’s strong-armed into doing it. We also care when a President says he’s not going to keep his salary, but is raking in far more money from Uncle Sam by using the office to enrich himself in other ways. The obscene amount of money used to house and feed his security and his staff at properties he owns is one example.
