Oh, give me a break. “Quickly stopped”? The Republicans in Congress haven’t given any indication that they will stop ANYTHING Trump wants to do.

You do have a point about Trump’s tweet, though. His tweet said, “ If Chicago doesn’t fix the horrible “carnage” going on, 228 shootings in 2017 with 42 killings (up 24% from 2016), I will send in the Feds!” And “I will send in the Feds!” could have more than one interpretation. He could have meant, “I will encourage Mayor Emanuel to ask for federal help, and I will give him what is asked,” but I doubt it. He wanted his tweet to be interpreted as “I will forcibly send in federal troops and restore order with martial law, even against the mayor’s wishes.” That’s how his tweet was interpreted, and Trump has done nothing to correct that perception.
