Oh, those poor Republican Senators. A bill that guts Medicaid and leaves millions of people insured will have at least four GOP Senators voting against it. A bill that doesn’t do these things won’t get the votes of the Freedom Caucus Senators.
The only way they’re going to get anything passed at all is to work with the Democrats, and they’re going to insist on a replacement bill that does what Trump originally promised — a bill that provides affordable comprehensive insurance for more people at a lower cost, without cutting funding for Planned Parenthood and other groups. In other words — essentially the ACA but with improvements.
But they’re going to play the game of futility for a long time, first.
