One of the biggest reasons why there are still millions of people uninsured is that many states refused the Medicaid Expansion, which was designed to insure many of the working poor — those whose income is too high for regular Medicaid, but too low to be eligible for the exchanges. Don’t blame that on the ACA. Blame that on the Republican-controlled states who have refused it — and yes, every single state refusing it is controlled by Republicans.

Furthermore, both premiums and deductibles rose dramatically every year before the ACA, too. And they will continue to do so regardless of what plan we have, unless and until we get profit for insurance providers out of the mix. Single payer will come to us eventually, only because we will run out of other options.
