From one white, non-Jewish woman to another, please, I urge you to listen to our Jewish sisters on this issue with an open mind.
There are real grievances to be had with the leadership of the Women’s March. Putin is not behind these 'attacks' and it’s harmful to forward such an idea without serious investigation or proof.
So much awfulness in here to unpack.
That Jewish women should shut up about their oppression just because it makes the Women’s March look bad.
That by doing this, Jewish women are 'crucifying' the leaders of the Women’s March. The word choice is very telling.
Thank you x1000 for writing this.
I’m going through a similar thing here in my province in Canada (right wing populist elected & he’s currently screwing over everything I hold dear) and trying to be emotionally present for the work I’m doing is getting harder and harder every day.
Rob, thanks for writing this informative article. As a new Medium user, I’ve found getting my head around the algorithm to be really difficult. It seems to make no sense at all! Plus, with the unreliability of what each “clap” is worth, there’s really no way to predict how profitable any one article will be. I’m going to keep your advice in mind though, and embrace the randomness, so to speak, and get writing!
This sentence really struck a chord with me. I feel there really is a reckoning coming where we will have to face the fact that the liberal idea of unfettered freedom has allowed illiberal ideas to blossom. As you say, a byproduct of the ability to say and believe anything you want is that people will say ridiculous and sometimes evil things. It’s a hard truth to swallow.
Thank you so much for writing this. When mental illness took my life by storm, finances were a huge part of it, deeply tied to my self worth. Nowadays, I’m out of the hole, paying off loans well, and obsessively learning everything I can about personal finances. *Solidarity fist bump*
