This week’s episode on the VHW series is here! As always, we keep it interesting! Read, enjoy and stay healthy!

BIPOLAR DISORDER is a mental health condition that causes extreme mood swings that includes emotional highs(hypomania)and lows(depression). Bipolarity is NOT mania(madness) ❌❌❌.

In times of depression, patients could feel hopeless and lose interest in pleasure or even life as a whole. When moods shift to hypomania (far less extreme than Mania), patients may feel euphoric, full of energy and unusually irritable. Episodes of mood swings may occur rarely or even multiple times in a year. Most patients experience emotional symptoms between episodes, though some may not experience any.

Symptoms or signs to watch out for can be dependent on the type of Bipolar Disorder. Bipolar II, for instance, is not a milder form of Bipolar I disorder, but a different diagnosis. While the manic episodes of Bipolar I disorder can be severe and dangerous, individuals with Bipolar II disorder can be depressed for longer periods which can cause significant impairment. Although Bipolar disorder can occur at any age. It is typically diagnosed in the teenage years or early ’20s. Symptoms may vary from person to person and may vary over.

If you have any symptoms of depression or hypomania, see your doctor or mental health practitioner. Bipolar Disorder DOES NOT get better on its own.

Getting treatment from a mental health professional with experience in Bipolar disorder can help you get your symptoms under control. Bipolar Disorder can’t be cured, but it can certainly be treated and managed.
