Is Guest Blogging Right For You?

My mom said, “Hold your hands around the statue of Mary. This will help you write that essay that is due tomorrow.”

I didn’t have any other ideas, so I did what she suggested. I wrote that essay but it was about 1000 words too short. This was 24 years ago.

When I graduated I hoped I will never have to write again.

I didn’t like writing back then perhaps because I didn’t like reading. Both activities are connected and feed from each other.

So if you’re struggling in your writing, read a lot.

Now guest blogging is a great way to get exposure. But there’s a catch.

It’s hard to get invited to write a guest blog post if you’re just getting started with your writing. Nobody knows you exist.

So it’s best to actively start making a list of 10 or 20 blogs in your niche who accept guest posts and submit your best writing to them.

A few of them will reply.

Even if you get rejected, when you have something new to post write them again in a month or so. Follow up with more value.

When I’m writing this today I don’t need to hold my hands around the statue of Mary in doing so.

Now I write and read every day and enjoy every moment of it.

You can do the same.

And remember…

Life is short. Create, share, repeat.
