I’m sure you’ve met many people in your life who are doing something which they have not chosen as their career path. Since the early days of our education, we are not made aware of the vast and varied career choices other available to us, other than becoming the proverbial doctor or engineer.
No one talks about the careers that grab our interest; and to pursue them as a hobby, not as a serious career option. I ask why can’t our hobbies become our career option?
Some people are tattoo artists, singers, event managers, chefs or dancers. And they have a happy life, and a hip and happening career as well.
What is Vocational Education?
Vocational education is different from regular career streams. It is mainly opted after 12th when students get to choose what they want to be in the future. They chose their career, courses and college according to their will. Therefore, vocational courses are not regular science, commerce, and management courses. They are different as they have more professional orientation, practical approach and teaching and learning methods.
These courses are narrower and more focused. For example, if anyone wants to have their career in tattoo-making, they have colleges and institutes who offer to train them for the same.
Why is it important?
Vocational education is important for students who have a creative bent of mind and do not picture themselves sitting in front of a computer all day long. Vocational courses help these students to polish their skills and hobbies and hone their skills and enjoy a flourishing and enjoyable career option. Here they can be creative on a daily basis.
