Lá cờ Việt Nam, Hoa Kỳ, Ca-li-phôn-nha, 1978
I am made
of skin and blood.
Yellow skin,
red blood.
Yellow like a golden Buddha,
promising a river of riches
Red like the firecrackers,
dispelling years of disaster.
Yellow like forked lightning,
splitting history into two.
Red like a languid sunset
rending time with Ba.
Like those three red bands
falling down
down
and down
I am forever
a figure divided.
