Coffee Bean Belt: The coffee bean belt is a region with ideal growing conditions for coffee that is restricted to latitudes between 23.5 degrees north and south. Over 70 countries are included in this “imaginary” belt between the planet, which runs parallel to the equator and has tropical conditions that are ideal for growing coffee.

The coffee belt spans five continents: Africa, Asia, Oceania, South and North America. Yet, compared to the other four continents, Oceania produces a very little amount of coffee. Just roughly 40 of the 70 nations that make up the coffee belt have considerable coffee production.

The Coffee Belt’s Principle

All plants have similar daily biological requirements. Sunlight, water, soil, and air are essential for plant growth. Similar to coffee, these four components work together to give the coffee plant the nourishment and energy it requires.

The coffee belt plays a role in providing the specific conditions that coffee plants need to thrive and grow:

  • There is an obvious dry season, yet there is enough rain.
  • The weather consists of consistent, chilly temperatures and days with some sunshine.
  • The coffee plant can grow to a healthy height.
  • The soil is suitable for growing coffee trees.

Although growing conditions are comparable across the coffee belt, differences in soil, temperature, rainfall, and altitude have a considerable impact on the flavor of the beans produced by coffee plants. The flavor of one coffee can even be very different from another coffee made on a nearby farm, just like wine.

Although coffee can be grown beyond the coffee belt, this does not ensure that the plant will have access to all of the necessary nutrients.
