When people criticize you or reject you, it likely has way more to do with them — their values, their priorities, their life situation — than it does with you. I hate to break it to you, but other people simply don’t think about you that much (after all, they’re too busy trying to believe everything is about them).
et …acebook is searching to give and get cannot be had: the conflict of interest renders it impossible. Facebook’s underlying interest is to give you a quick dopamine hit, which renders you more miserable in the long-run — not to cure your addiction. Then it would be out of business, wouldn’t it?
… This is obviously crucial when seeking justice, but it’s also crucial to our experience as people. There will always be situations in which we have to seek truth by navigating two people’s different memories, but as we move toward a future when everything will leave an artifact, those situations will become increasingly rare. It’s possible that that world will be more just, and feel less lifelike.
