Dear America, Serena was wrong
Having spent the day in the beautiful, natural and scenic locales of Giethoorn, Netherlands; I came back to my hotel in the most positive and satisfying frame of mind. I didn’t manage to catch the majority of US Open tennis this year but premise of women’s final appealed me in exchange of a much needed sleep. Here is match for dreams and passion, for a 20 year old girl from Osaka was playing her first GrandSlam final against her childhood shero Serena who has seen it all, done it all, won it all.
I joined from the start of second set, Osaka managed to upset her idol with thunderous strokes and won the first set 6–2. Early in the second set, chair umpire Carlos Ramos warned Serena of a coaching violation. It is visibly obvious and later in the press conference, Patrick (Serena’s coach) accepted his act. But, Serena may not have seen it but she decided to take it personally with a very over blown reaction and eventually calling the umpire a thief, liar. Little later, Serena decided to smash and break her racquet, again duly reprimanded by chair umpire for violation of conduct. During all this ruckus, Naomi Osaka maintained her cool and eventually won her first GrandSlam trophy. Congratulations girl.

Dear America, the act of jeers and boos in the finals was too judgemental and uncalled for. Serena has always been a champion but this night she didn’t act like one. Her defence of men being overlooked is not all true; the likes of John McEnroe, Marat Safin had their share of warnings and amercement. She ranted abusively for all three of the fair violations. She was wrong.
Dear Serena, I would suggest you to take a break and visit Giethoorn, gain some fresh perspective of things forward.
