My journey to Thoughtworks

Hello everyone,

I am S. vijay and i am gonna share about my journey as a software developer and I ended up in my dream company.

When i was in college back in 2012 to 2016, as a normal engineering student i also wanted to join MNC companies like CTS and Infosys. I loved learning new programming languages and as a result i ended up in famous product based company. I don’t want to mention the name of the company because the four month i worked as an intern there is the worst part of my company life. Yes i failed in my first job.

In may 2016 as i desperately wanted a job and thanks to my friend Jeffry who introduced me to PHP when we are in third year of the college and also to my friend Wasim who was working in a start up called Pindout softwares. I got a job as a PHP developer and the company had only two developers. Myself as a PHP developer and my friend as an Android developer. Within 5 months we both shifted to another company(Shade6 interactive) with decent pay. And we spent 1 and half years there. Later we moved to a company called Creditmantri. Even though i worked as a PHP developer for over 2 years i was able to clear the interview for JAVA developer, thanks to my college staff Divya who always motivated me to learn. Then the one and half years in Creditmantri thought me so much of new technologies and my mentor Balaji Srinivasan thought me good practices in coding.

Now back to my college i was not allowed to attend interview of Thoughtworks as i already got placed and thankfully my room mate got placed in my dream company. But i didn’t quit trying i applied when i had six month of experience for various positions but hard luck i was never been invited to take up the interview. After three years trying and failing finally i got an opportunity “Hiring workshop”. I was invited and when i went there i was scared because most of the people who came there had five to ten years of experience in java. I did my best and used all my knowledge which i gained in one year from my mentor Balaji. I cleared all the interview process and got the offer letter (To which i waited for 3 and half years).

This is my personal experience and i would suggest you to learn JAVA or Node or Python to be called for an interview. And all the very best if you are going to appear for an interview with Thoughtworks.
