Andha naal — A work of magic

Good write up, Ram!
‘Andha naal’ is a very good movie and quite a different one for it’s time. There is no song in this movie which is quite rare during that time in Indian cinemas.
Whether written for a Stage play or Screen, this script was bound to make an impact. Of course, adopting this for screen gave the opportunity to use those camera techniques that you touched upon in your writing.
The ‘6 blind men and the elephant’ analogy is something which reminds of this (guess what? A Japanese) film, ‘Rashomon’, directed by Akira Kurosawa. And then I learnt that Veena Balachander himself was inspired by that very movie — http://www.thehindu.com/features/cinema/andha-naal-remembering-veena-s-balachander/article8446799.ece.
