Ode to Christ

Jesus.

Immaculately conceived. Divinely delivered.

He fed the multitude and walked on water.

He healed the sick and raised the dead.

Brought sight to the blind and loved like no one before him (or since).

Time and again he demonstrated his Grace and Divinity and simply asked us to believe.

To have faith.

And yet, after all this display of indisputable “proof”, we doubted, disbelieved, wavered, and strayed. We betrayed him, had him arrested in exchange for trinkets, and put him to death in the cruelest way imaginable.

And, even after this torture and persecution, this humiliation and grave injustice, Jesus only said:

“Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do.”

The Spirit of Jesus has come to live with us — in our hearts. This Spirit feeds us. Not just our stomachs, but our souls. This Spirit keeps us alive — allows us to do all the things we do. It shines The Light on our path forward and comforts us in our darkest hour.

This Spirit loves us like no other and has shown us miracles time and time again.

And yet, we doubt, disbelieve, waver, and stray. We betray and persecute, torture, and humiliate.

Still, this Spirit never leaves us. She is always there waiting — willing and ready — to connect, love, and dance.
