9 stress-reducing tips
Dealing with stress is one of those forever reoccurring issues you just have to deal with; hopefully sooner rather than later.
Stress overwhelms us all sometimes. Learning to deal with it is a part of dealing with life. Why we get stressed is most likely different for each and every individual but most would probably agree that being stressed out is a rather unpleasant experience.
How would you then deal with stress? Here are some of my tips for creating a stress-free day.
- Start by sitting down, thinking. Think about all the things running through your head. Don’t try to push them away. Just think about them. Do this for however long you want but when you start feeling the itch to get up. Sit tight for another 30 seconds or so.
- Turn off the music and TV, and put that damn phone away. You don’t have to stimulate your senses all the time. It’s okay to be bored.
- Got a busy day? Cancel as much as possible. Can’t? Then at least reschedule to a day with less going on.
- Reflect. Reflect on why your day got so busy. It didn’t get that way by itself.
- Take a nap. Don’t have time for a nap? Revisit step 3.
- Got financial problems? Stop buying trash.
- In relation to the previous step. Stop eating trash.
- Social media can be a real attention thief. You could get rid of it, you know. Or at the very least downsize it a little bit. Got Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google+? You could probably get by just fine with one of them. (Or none?)
- Oh, did I mention this one earlier? Stop watching TV.
Granted, this doesn’t apply to everyone, but maybe some of the steps do. I’ve written down that which helps me reduce stress. I don’t follow these steps all the time and I wouldn’t expect anyone else to but it helps me to keep them in mind.
