Meet the Visionary: Dr. Brian Mehling, Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Blue Horizon International Therapeutic Sciences
Dr. Brian Mehling, M.D., M.S. is the founder and Chief Medical Officer of Blue Horizon International Therapeutic Sciences (BHITS) and Blue Horizon International, Luxembourg (BHI-LUX). He is globally recognized in the regenerative medicine research community as a practicing American orthopedic trauma surgeon, researcher, and philanthropist. With a passion for improving healthcare standards, Dr. Mehling has previously founded BHI companies in Germany, Slovakia, Belize, Brazil, Jamaica, Monaco, Switzerland, and Israel, and now brings his global experience to the United States with BHITS.
Dr. Mehling’s journey in medicine began at Harvard University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Biochemistry from Ohio State University. He then completed his degree in medicine from Wright State University’s School of Medicine and received postgraduate education through residencies and fellowships at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, NJ and the Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Seton Hall University.
Dr. Mehling has traveled extensively throughout Europe, South America, Asia, and the Middle East, observing firsthand the differences in healthcare standards. Identifying the need for a universal high-quality standard, he founded Blue Horizon International. He and his colleagues have successfully treated and monitored over 4000 patients using stem cell and regenerative therapies for a wide range of diseases and disorders, including spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and arthritis.
In addition to his work with BHITS, Dr. Mehling also co-founded the Blue Horizon Charitable Foundation (BHCF) and Nadacia Blue Horizon (NBH), with the mission to assist and finance the advancement of all aspects of stem cell therapies, cellular regenerative medicine, and related research in full regulatory compliance, in conjunction with the scientific community. The foundation also supports and provides charitable therapies to those less fortunate suffering from degenerative diseases and debilitating conditions.
