FOUR AND FIVE-STAR MIAMI RESTAURANTS

1. Boia De

Boia De is a surprising find, located between a medical center and a laundromat inside the Buena Vista shopping center. It is one of the most upscale restaurants in Miami occupying one of the strangest locations.

The food at this Michelin Star Italian restaurant is exquisite. Diners can enjoy baked clams, marinated mussels, crispy Italian polenta, beef tartare, and kampachi crudo, a type of watermelon aguachile, with pickled rinds and fermented fresno granita.

If you decide to go, be sure to make a reservation as it can get busy during peak hours.

2. Matador Room

Matador Room offers a unique ambiance that’s ideal for couples and intimate encounters. The restaurant is rebellious, reimagining many popular cuisines from around the world in its own unique style. Experience modified versions of Caribbean, South American, Spanish and Latin cuisine.

As one of the most expensive restaurants in Miami, you can expect seasonal ingredients from local artisans, all carefully arranged on small and large plates, plus sharing platters. Top dishes at the eatery include caviar with créme fraiche and chives, charcuterie cheese boards, Iberico ham, pizzas, masa and tortillas, and a variety of grilled and roasted dishes, such as Maine lobster and 32-ounce prime-age ribeye.

3. L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon Miami

One of the most exclusive restaurants in Miami, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon is a celebration of food on all levels. This two Michelin Star establishment is among the finest dining experiences in the world, joining the chain’s other restaurants in Tokyo, New York, and Paris.

The name “L’Atelier” refers to a craftsman’s workshop, a reference to how chef Robuchon elevates even the simplest dishes to the highest levels. The leather chairs and rosewood walls set the tone upon entering the restaurant. Top dishes include filet mignon, wagyu beef, scallops in cilantro broth, and Colorado lamb saddle.

4. Swan & Bar Bevy

Swan & Bar Bevy is located in Miami’s Design District and offers both indoor and outdoor dining. Swan is owned by David Grutman and musical artist Pharrell Williams. The new menu focuses on seasonal ingredients from local markets and combines bold flavors with traditional menu options, giving diners new experiences every time they attend.

While the food is bright and delicious, diners primarily attend Swan & Bar Bevy for its atmosphere. Palm trees festoon the outdoor courtyards while private cocktail lounges and separate rooms are perfect for individual events and VIP guests.

5. Sexy Fish

Sexy Fish is the Miami outlet of the Bricknell-based London restaurant chain. It features original works by British artist, Damien Hirst, plenty of Asian inspired cuisines, and gorgeous sunsets.

Like other 5 star Miami restaurants, it offers a combination of delightful interiors and delectable dishes. Top menu items include “sexy fruits de Mer” — a selection of sashimi tartare, king crab and oyster — caviar, skewers and gyozas, and tempura.

6. Gekko

Intimate and intense, Gekko is the brainchild of owner Dave Grutman and Puerto Rican rapper, Bad Bunny. The Japanese inspired steakhouse and lounge feature scarlet mood decor and signature dishes from the Land of the Rising Sun.

Enjoy unique takes on sushi, bespoke cocktails, and premium wagyu steak cuts. An extensive wine list and the option to host private events are also available.

7. Itamae

Top of the list of most fancy restaurants in Miami, Itamae is a Peruvian diner that is above the rest and has been awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand for “good quality, good value cooking,” the family-run establishment is one of the best places to eat in the Miami Design Center.

The restaurant offers a host of stunning dishes, including bluefin tuna tiradito, a mixed ceviche of black grouper, squid, and octopus, spiny lobster, and masu. Wealthy patrons of the restaurant often make a Rethink Food donation to support meals in the local community.

8. Zuma

Zuma first opened its doors to the London public more than twenty years ago. Now it is offering its unique take on traditional Japanese Izakaya, an informal dining style, to the visitors and residents of downtown Miami.

Guests have a choice of donburi signature entrées, sushi, and carefully crafted starters. Tuck into delicious dishes, including semi-fatty tuna sashimi, Zuma’s special wagyu beef sushi, maki rolls, snacks and soups, and omakase, a selection of the restaurant’s best dishes.

9. Nobu Miami

Another fine dining Miami Beach Japanese restaurant, Nobu manages to excite the senses in every way, thanks to its unique banqueting halls, bars, and views over the city. Go here if you want to dine in beautiful surroundings.

Like similar restaurants, Nobu splits its menu into two sections: hot and cold. Popular hot dishes include black cod with miso, rock shrimp tempura with creamy spicy sauce, Chilean sea bass sweet corn miso, and lobster wasabi with pepper. Cold options include salmon with karashi su miso, toro tartare with caviar, and lobster shiitake salad with spicy lemon dressing.

10. DOYA

Lastly, but certainly not least, is DOYA meze-bar, a Michelin Bib Gourmand establishment. It’s perfect for those who love sampling lots of different dishes. Here, you can find kofte, zucchini salads, ceviche, feta cheese dishes, sea beans, and octopus, all served promptly at the same table.

“Meze,” the restaurant says, “is based on the principle that food tastes better when shared.” Therefore, you’ll want to go with as many people as you can. Expect mainly Turkish and Greek flavors with a few dishes from the Mediterranean region thrown in for good measure.
