Happy Thanksgiving! — An Open Letter To The Community From Lila Xu, VIMworld CEO
Dear VIMworld friends,
I hope you and your family are having a great Thanksgiving holiday.
As I reflect during the holidays, I get sentimental (even without the influence of alcohol), so I thought I would share how one of the founders of CREAM became the CEO of VIMworld. I don’t want to focus too hard on the turbulence from earlier this year, but truthfully, based on our analyses, due diligence, and my experience as an investor and strategist at CREAM, the most sensible step to have taken would have been to forgo CREAM’s losses and move on. As a serial entrepreneur, the most cost-and-time-effective path would have been to close VIMworld and start fresh, instead of refactoring everything from top to bottom.
We had many conversations at CREAM on this topic, but we decided to keep pushing forward for one reason — we couldn’t let our loyal community down. The vision for VIMworld is close to my heart, and something I couldn’t just walk away from, even with it requiring more than two million dollars to fix mistakes before building anything new.
With our objective established and a dream to “connect hearts and make people feel needed and relevant,” I proudly became the CEO of VIMworld in Q1, 2021.
It marked the start of a year I knew would be challenging for the VIMworld team. A year we not only survived, but exceeded expectations for a startup with scars on our hearts. We completely redesigned VIMworld.com, successfully launched VIMworld 2.0 with a new VIMventory, new VIMdispenser, new VIMmarket, new Adopt-a-VIM system, and most importantly, we introduced the new tier system. In addition, we rolled out three new features, Dashboard, VIMstudy, and Leaderboard. More recently, we deployed an upgraded VIMstudy packed with features and information our community has been requesting while serving as a library for newcomers. The VEED/VET duo token VIMmarket was another major recent upgrade, and we’re already seeing 40% of marketplace transactions being completed in VEED. To summarize — we’ve been very busy!
We went through a complete organizational blood transfusion on the human resource side, replacing staff in every function. We now have ten plus engineers, with one to two new tech hires per month, eight team members on operations, ten on marketing and community services, and a long list of functions in each department waiting to be filled. So if you like VIMworld and you think you’ve got the skills, contact hr@vimworld.com with your resume right away; we are always hiring!
Now, we can look ahead at the more ambitious aspects of our development plan. As I have stated again and again, we are building infrastructure right now. This current stage of development is foundational and the key to future growth. The steps taken today place us on a critical path towards fulfilling our vision of delivering a massive scale open-metaverse. On the short-term roadmap side, below is a preview of what we are working on and planning on launching in the next few months. We hope you are as excited as we are about them!
VIMworld Cross-Chain Capabilities
One of my favorite directions is the cross-chain technology that we are developing. In a multi-chain world, interoperability is the key, and we are fully aware of this. Cross-chain capabilities will help us expand our community further and increase the demand for VIMs and VEED.
SDK for Our Interactive Application Platform
Part of our roadmap is to introduce games and interactive apps to the platform — something we have wanted for some time, but a feature that first required a robust platform. We are in the process of developing SDKs to allow third-party game developers to build new fun features and games for VIMworld, greatly enhancing the utility of your VIMs! I am looking forward to battling some of you in the future with my VIMs.
Community Driven Content and VIM Creation Capabilities
Another aspect of our future roadmap is the introduction of decentralized VIM/NFT creation capabilities. We are particularly excited about this, as it will allow VIMworld to kick off one of the features stated on our Public Project Proposal — the VIM Producers Program. Creators, artists, and studios will be able to create their own collections to be judged by the Community, potentially earning income using the VIMworld platform. As time goes on, we plan to decentralize production further, allowing VIMworld to flourish organically. We want to empower our community to become champions of their futures with our platform.
An Example Game Attached to VIMworld Open-Meta
We’ve been working on a simple game with a 3rd party game developer. You will see this game released in the next few months, and I hope you’ll enjoy playing it! The game’s purpose is to demonstrate to other game developers and studios the kind of interactive fun and utility they can develop using VIMs. Eventually, the gaming and interactive platform will become part of the essential aspects of VIMworld, where we build our Open-Meta.
And much more…
I’d like to wrap up by thanking you, our brave, loyal, and smart investors and community members. Your trust and encouragement made our scars heal faster. Your passion and love for VIMworld drive us all to keep refining the business logic and product, helping us make VIMworld a truly world-class platform. Your understanding and patience inspire me to be a better leader and make this long journey worthwhile for all VIM believers!
Warmest regards,
Lila Xu, CEO of VIMworld
