Apple recently announced the release of their RED Special Edition for iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus units. The glass enclosure on both phones is now available in red along with a complementing aluminum band and a sleek black front. The (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition smartphones are already available for online order and next-day shipment in select regions and countries.

iPhone in Red

Apple is yet again working with (PRODUCT) RED, which is an organization that centers on fighting HIV and AIDS in Africa. With the new collaboration, an unspecified percentage of the proceeds from sales of the RED smartphones will go to the organization.

Select stores that sell cell-phone units now carry four colors of the iPhone 8 units: space gray, gold, silver, and red. The RED units may only be on sale for just a couple of months, though. Last year, Apple discontinued selling the red iPhone 7 and 7 Plus units when the iPhone 8 series and the iPhone X were introduced in September.

The New RED Special Edition Smartphones

As previously mentioned, the special edition RED iPhone 8 and 8 Plus units feature a spectacular red and black color combination. In addition to that, the iPhone 8 series features Retina HD display that is yet to be available in most smartphones today. They also have the A11 Bionic, also known as the most powerful chip to date. To top it all off, they sport advanced cameras that take crystal clear videos and photos.

Apart from the smartphones, Apple also unveiled a brand new (PRODUCT) RED Leather Folio for the iPhone X. It’s made from an opulent European leather that is specially tanned and finished. It’s the newest Apple accessory to be part of the (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition.

Contribution to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS

Apple and RED have been in partnership since 2006. For the past 11 years, the tech giant has donated over $160 million to the Global Fund to fight HIV and AIDS. Apple is RED’s largest corporate donor. For every partnership Apple makes with RED, a portion of the proceeds will be donated directly to Global Fund grants. The donation is distributed to various HIV/AIDS programs like treatment, testing, and prevention. But its main focus is to help eliminate the transmission of the virus from HIV-positive expecting mothers to their unborn babies.

As per Deborah Dugan, RED’s CEO, the huge amount of money that Apple has contributed over the years equates to 800+ million days of the ARV treatment that inhibits the transfer of HIV from mothers to their little ones. Anyone who buys the RED iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus units will provide a big help in continuing Apple and RED’s partnership to save lives.

Availability

Apple’s availability feature shows that the new (PRODUCT) RED devices and accessories should be available at most Apple stores all over the US and in other regions and countries too. Those who can’t go to an Apple store can opt to have the iPhone (or accessory) shipped directly to their address.
