The end of smartphone
In the last 2 weeks, 2 interesting news have been coming from Google. These 2 news demonstrated the beginning of their business model transformation.

The first news is the addition of 30 more languages in the speech recognition. The opening, mainly with India and Africa languages, allow the recognition and interaction with nearly 120 languages. With more than 20% of the search done by the voice on smartphone, Google continues the investment on the voice user interface and wants to provide this service to everybody in the planet.
The second news, with more media coverage, is the partnership between Google and Walmart. Walmart will be able to commercialize their products directly from the delivery platform, Google Express. This partnership is an offensive against Amazon and its leadership on ecommerce. But the leadership on ecommerce is not the only reason. The real challenge for Walmart and Google is to be able to challenge the service from amazon echo and the gigantic opportunities of purchase with this device in the coming year. Google with its Google Home find a good partner with Walmart on shopping dealing.
Amazon Echo and the crazy number
Some key numbers to demonstrate the opportunities. Already 10M of amazon echo have been sold since 2 years. More than 15000 skills (or apps) are already available on the “store”. The forecast for 2020 make your wonder. 60M of devices should have been sold in US (the quarter of the smartphone) and the revenues from the orders by amazon echo should be around 10 billions of dollars in 2020 (source from RBC’s Mark Mahaney). It is a huge opportunity for all the GAFA and big transformation in our ways of shopping.
The change for Google and the device
The transformation for Google is important. Their mains revenues are coming from the advertisement coming from your search. But with the development of the Voice User Interface, the main activity of google will be a virtual assistant and not search engine anymore. When you will ask for a question, Google will need to provide you with one answer. So they will need to find new revenues coming from the sales for example done through google home by example.

The deployment of the voice interaction question myself also on “what will be the next be things after the smartphone” given that the main interaction will be done by the voice!!!!
