2-factor authentication is an important security tool in keeping accounts safer than simply using a password. As the name suggests, it adds a second step to logging into any account, making it more difficult for unauthorized users to break in, steal personal information, and do all sorts of unsavory things.

How does it work? Once your account is set up, any attempt to log into your account will require a special authorization code, provided by an app, which is used to finish the login process.

Why use 2-Factor Authentication? Account security is important for everyone, and nobody wants their accounts or information being used without their permission. 2-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security, making it considerably more difficult to breach an account. Since the 2-Factor code is dependent on the app itself, obtaining it is considerably more difficult for potential breach attempts that would normally rely on using a password only.

Aquanow requires that you set up 2FA Auth before you are permitted to enter the platform. In this article we will help walk you through the procedure.

Step 1: Create a new account

Create a new account on trade.aquanow.io after your onboarding documents have been approved by our compliance officer.

Click Create Account in order to begin

Step 2: Email Confirmation

An email would’ve been sent to the email address you have signed up with. The message contains the confirmation code in order for you to validate your email to sign up onto our platform.

Confirm the confirmation code sent to your email address

Step 3: Download Google Authenticator

You now need to download an application in order to save your 2FA keys and refer to them for when you log in.

Google Authenticator
iOS Download
Android Download

An alternative to Google Auth would be Authy, one upside of this one is that you are able to backup your information in the event that you lose your phone.

Once you have downloaded it, you are ready to scan your first 2FA code.

Step 4: Write down the recovery code

On a piece of paper, write down the recovery code under the QR code. This string of letters and numbers is later used to recover your 2FA access if you lose your mobile device that you have saved the 2FA code on, or if you are planning to migrate the code to another device.

***Do not show anyone this code***

Step 5: Scan the verification code

On your authenticatior application (we used google Auth for demonstration purposes), find an option to scan a barcode and point it to the code on our website.

Select ‘Scan a barcode’

Step 6: Enter the Security code on your device to complete account registration.

Enter the Security code into our platform to complete registration.

You should now have 2FA enabled for Aquanow and access to our platform at trade.aquanow.io.

Cheers,

Team Aquanow
