Tanzania,The Land of Kilimanjaro.

I’m really proud to be born in this amazing and blessed country. When you look at the Tanzania’s tourist board website, they have gone even further and coined it as “Tanzania,Home to Serengeti National Park The Site of Spectacular animal migration;Mt Kilimanjaro and The Ngorongoro crater; Africa’s Three Natural wonders.”

Tanzania is the soul of Africa and the home of the late Julius Nyerere who along with other Pan African leaders, founded the Organisation of African Unity. When you get time to visit Botswana, Kenya,Namibia,South Africa,Zambia and Zimbabwe to mention few,you will find roads and streets named after this Tanzania and Africa legend. This is very enough for me but President Mugabe suggested more to be done to immortalize our African Heroes!

Sorry! My intention was not to talk a lot about Mwalimu(Julius Nyerere)but the role he played to better this country and liberate most of African countries made me start writing about him.

Now straight to the point…

Mount Kilimanjaro[5,895 m (19,341 ft) above the sea level] is the third tallest mountain in the world and the first in Africa. The water, far going rivers, and the rains from dense forests surrounding it and its popularity in the world, made us call Tanzania, The Land of Kilimanjaro…

This legendary mountain attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world yearly. One hour drive from Kilimanjaro International Airport will get you to the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. From Arusha,(Geneva of Africa) it is just 128 km. Not very far!

Tanzania is one of the most peaceful countries in Africa with a flourishing democracy and a fast growing economy in East Africa. It is a home of dedicated citizens who support Internal and International investors. 25% of “The Land of Kilimanjaro” is dedicated to wildlife parks and conservation areas.

Want to see the annual wildebeest migration? The Land of Kilimanjaro have it all.Sometimes referred to as the ‘Greatest Show on Earth’, the Great Wildebeest Migration is a movement of approximately 1.5 million wildebeest throughout the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystems in search of green pastures and water. Yes, 1.5 million wildebeest..

One more thing? Zanzibar? The name Zanzibar was derived from a combination of two Arabic words, ‘Zenj’, meaning black, and ‘bar’, being the Arabic word for land,so for a combined meaning — ‘’Land of blacks”. Very attractive Island in Tanzania but very competitive when it comes to general elections. Most of the time, the winning political party take the office with a very small margin of votes. Flourishing democracy!

#WhatWouldMagufuliDo? a common hashtag on twitter tries to reflect what is needed to make the most of “The Land of Kilimanjaro”. The hashtag is full of ways to minimize costs in government as well as in our daily lives but in a “funny” way. This made President Magufuli popular in the social media but the truth is, Magufuli is not a tech savvy president rather a man of “his words”- the bulldozer!

Come one, come all and explore the beauty of Tanzania.

The Land of Kilimanjaro..
