A String Of Seductions
Aura Wilming

Ah, yes, the cello! I come from a family where music has been “in our blood” for generations. My paternal ancestors actually made violins — waaay back.

My dad was a self-taught violinist and fiddler, going from magnificent symphony pieces to Scottish jigs without a miss. Piano was big for my sister and me, although I did not pursue it. One of my aunts graduated concert level pianist from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music back in the 1940s.

The cello has soul, but I must admit that violin and bass also give my heart serious palpitations. There is something majestic about these particular string instruments, speaking softly or boldly to one’s heart and soul.
