VCHS Students

Vine Christian High School, a leading Christian private school is offering about GHS 100,000 worth of partial and full scholarships to over 50 students to be part of their 3-month online school for the third term 2019/2020 academic year after reducing its tuition by over 50%.

This opportunity is open to all students in class 6, JHS 1 & 2 (GES Model) & Grade 7 & 8 (Cambridge Model) irrespective of the schools they are currently enrolled in. This is the school’s response to COVID 19 to support many needy parents and families affected by COVID 19 so that their wards can still receive quality education for their future.

The rapidly evolving COVID-19 outbreak has forced over 1.6 billion children and youth out of their classrooms around the world. Millions of children in Africa are the most affected with schools in almost all African countries implementing nation-wide school closures. While some countries are better prepared to provide online learning for children during school closures, many students in developing countries like Ghana struggle to access online learning.

That notwithstanding, the impact of coronavirus on the economy, income, and jobs around the world have been outraging. This comprises people losing their daily income, pay cuts, loss of jobs, increase in food expenditure and dependency. Reuters estimates that about 20 million jobs could be lost. This affects parents’ ability to pay for the upcoming school fees of their wards and could affect the future of their children.

Parents Engaging with School Official

In early March, Vine Christian High School opened up its well structured online class to almost 300 students for free for 6 weeks as a measure to support families and students who were out of school. The success of this kind gesture has sparked many parents to express interest in allowing their children to join the upcoming 3rd term online class which will run for 3 months.

As stated earlier, considering the impact of COVID 19 on students and parents, Vine Christian High, also known as VCHS has decided to open its 3rd term academic year to the public irrespective of being a registered student in the school or not. It also reduced its tuition fees by 50% for all parents who intend to enroll students in the 3-month online class to GHS 3,200. This would have been enough but VCHS has gone ahead to offer over GHS 100,000 worth of partial and full scholarships to over 100 students who have financial need or whose parents/guardian income have been affected by the Coronavirus but have a keen interest to see their child receive quality online education.

The online school will offer 8 subjects including English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, Geography, Global Perspective or Social Studies and French. It will run 3 sessions for at most 1 hour each in a day. The class will also incorporate scripture memorization and sessions with successful entrepreneurs. This 3-month online class will begin from 27th April to 1st July 2020. Scholarships offered to students will be on a need basis and students who apply are required to maintain their enrollment throughout the online classes.

Scholarship applications are due on 25th April 2020 while third term admissions close on 29th April 2020. All applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis hence parents who will require partial or full scholarships are encouraged to apply early as spots are limited.
