TAPAUfest for the soul
and my Malaysian pride.
I’m currently working on executing a massive project that began as a dream by a young Malaysian filmmaker. To this date, everyone who knows him and this dream of his would be celebrating its 5th …or 6th anniversary.
Yep. The dream has aged and has grown bigger and better by the years.
“TAPAUfest is a youth festival made by the youth, for the youth! We’re creating an annual playground for the local creative talents to come together, showcase their passion to not just each other, but also to Malaysia and beyond.”
That’s all I can put together in my own words as I too have grown 2 years older with this project. How bout that, eyh. 2 year and there are times that I want to kill this boy, push him over a busy traffic and even burn his house down…so that he can snap back into the real world and just get a 9-5 job, get paid, fuck passion, let the people with the money run the show. But of course I didn’t because I truly believe in his dreams… and that people with money would/might care less about anything that screams out PASSION! Or not. I don’t know, I don’t have money but when I do, I spend it on …passion. Hah!
Anyhoo, I’m taking a break from the corporate life and I want to run this project as much as I can because believe it or not, dreams don’t fail you, people do. Or in this, money… which is owned by people.
As off now, he has set up a little creative agency with the help of awesome talents, equipt with more awesome talents who believes in this dream too.
We’re working as hard as we can to make this happen. We’ve got till end of March to call it a go or ‘we’ll try for next year’. I really wish all our dreams will come true this time.
So, dear sponsors, what is not to believe in a creative youth festival that showcases the young talents of Malaysia in the creative fields who are making their marks internationally & regionally and that is set in a historical city with amazing tradition, food & architecture? Sounds to me like it’s the best place to be for the locals to the international guests, to experience Malaysia like never before! Did I mentioned that there will be awesome local food that you can never see served in any other festival in Malaysia?
Yep, I could do with some good ol’ Char Kuey Teow while watching 7-Collar T-Shirt play as the sun sets and the kids go bananas over traditional games and the oldies do some 2-step dance while the hipsters watch a never-before-seen-or-heard local film and …I could go on and on about how brilliant this festival will be for all age group in and out of Malaysia.
It’s a truly asian festival. Sponsor us, please.
…or should I opt for crowdfunding? Hmm..a crowdfunding festival sounds preetttyyy…
