If You Do Anything, Do This

This is not another lifehack article.

It’s not another post with advice on how to improve your relationships, your diet or your productivity either.

And it’s certainly not another piece of advice on what entrepreneur or person to mirror to be successful.

The way I see it, all of those can be summed up in just a few tips anyways:

  • Respect others
  • Enjoy living
  • Work smart
  • Be passionate about something

Instead, this article is my plea to everyone to just do one simple thing…

Be On Time!

For those of you that make it a point to always be on time, you certainly understand the value of this request.

For those of you that like to be “casually late” or think “a few minutes after is no big deal,” then I hope that this article changes your mindset.

Time is our most valuable currency.

Disrespecting someone else’s time, to me, is one of the most offensive things you can do that person. You may as well just tell them to their face that your time is more important than theirs.

Repairing that impression is extremely hard to do. Don’t let things get to that point.

How to Be On Time

I understand that it’s impossible to always be on time.

That’s not what I’m talking about here.

I do think that it is possible to be on time consistently though. Some of the busiest, most time-strapped people in the world figure out how to do it. So can you.

If you’re known as the person that’s always late, then here is one simple tip for you to change that…

Be early.

If your meeting is at 3pm, then set your calendar and reminders for 2:30pm.

If your meeting is in an hour and it takes you 30 minutes to get there, then leave an hour before the meeting.

This isn’t that difficult. The best part is that when you’re early it makes a great impression on the other person.

So come on. You can do it.

Start being on time. Start by being early. It will say a lot about you.

To be early is to be on time.
To be on time is to be late.
To be late is to be unforgiven.

If you know someone that needs this reminder, then please do us all a favor and share it with them. Or, if you have trouble being on time, then leave a comment below and I’ll be happy to share some things that have worked really well for me.
