Nine months before I was issued a birth certificate

Nine long months before I freed you from my insistent weight

Nine months, some of nausea while your body tried to reject me

Nine months of accepting your fate with love

Nine months of hard work for you my mother

Nine months, and still you’ve never turned your back on me.

Nine months and I came out crying you saw the years of work ahead.

Nine months had passed, yet you still loved me through the pain.

Now I’ve become a man,

will fight for my children,

give my life for them,

but I will forever be jealous

of the nine months

I could never give them.
