What Social Media Channel Should My Shop Have?

You probably wonder what social media channel would be best for your shop. Or maybe you don’t, since you’re sure, that Facebook is the best. But how to know what IS really the best solution?
Who is my target group?
The most important part is to think about your target group. If you sell stuff to teens it would be better to choose in example Snapchat since many youngsters are present there. If you have a shop selling electric products Twitter might be your best option.
Knowing your audience helps you choose the channel you can find your clients!
What resources you have?
Having a YouTube channel is great, but to really rock it one needs loads of video material. Do you have time to prepare it? Equpment to film it? Having Instagram can be fun, but you have to take a picture everyday. Are you up for it?
What is your goal?
Snapchat can be really creative, but it’s hard to sell someting via snaps. If you need some help with SEO, Facebook is not really going to work. Depending on the strategic goals you might have, you should choose social media channels to work with.
Too much is… too much
Many companies feels like having a dosen different social media profiles. Seting up is easy, but what next? Who will post on them? Interact with fans or followers? Analize the outcome? Having a social media channel is a hard work to maintain. If not — it’s useless and making you loose resources! Choose only really needed places to be. And be sure that the time and work you invest is getting you somewhere.
Niche approach
Sometimes it’s better to use a channel that isn’t popular within your competition. Imagine that other companies are invering in Facebook — big budgets for ads and loads of work for fanpages. Can you compete if you have a small company? Probably not. But if one can find other place to find clients — that’s great! Instead of trying to fight the big companies on Facebook you can work with Twitter — maybe less potential clients, but also almost no competition.
Those are most important things to remember when planning your social media strategy. It helps choose place to be active on, since there are many social media networks — not only Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Snapchat, but hundreds of others waiting for you to explor them!
