The Talk

I would rather write five more books than marry two more times, I told my surprised parents.

Even since I have been divorced 2 years ago, the family has watched me meander through grief, exuberant partying, irrational dating and mature book writing.

My book writing has held me steady and sane. Books are loyal, less demanding and less expensive to keep and maintain than the female of my species.

But I end with a caveat. I am not going to get married again, I told my parents, unless I fall in love. That lessened the tension a bit.

My mom still looked worried. My dad asked me for the remote.
