Apple just told the world it has no idea who the Mac is for
Owen Williams

This shows the limitations of the capitalist system. When Apple optimizes for something (profits) while the public wants another (performance, innovation, simplicity), sometimes the two axes align, but at other times, they take strange turns away from each other. Remember how Microsoft froze for 8 years between XP and Win 7 — it just so happens that it was making more profit from milking the old cow than innovating. Doesn’t matter that it missed the boat with internet, gaming and mobile. It still makes a lot of money. Apple is in a similar phase — it has too much to protect and little incentive to innovate.
