The New Need for Corrugated packaging!!!
Corrugated Box printing plays an important role in today’s packaging industry, where more than 95% of all products worldwide are shipped in corrugated boxes. The current printing method for corrugated boxes is either flexography or offset printing. To talk about their real-time features and problems:
- They are ideal and inexpensive for large quantity, with high quality and speed.
- They are for small run and they have a lengthy setup time.
- Flexography printing is limited to 1 or 2 colours due to cost features and offset printing has too many processes.
- These printing methods have lack of flexibility and limitations of variable data.
Today, “On-demand printing” is a commercial printing with a turnaround time of a few minutes or max one hour for short print runs of a few hundred pieces. Thus, the one and only alternative are “Digital Printing”.
First off, there are no printing plates required so set up costs are costs are virtually non-existent. Clearly, when you don’t need printing plates, you also save costs on warehousing and storage. No printing plates mean that label printers can work much faster. In short, whenever a new job comes in, all the print operator has to do is locate the corresponding file on the computer and hit print.
Digital printers come with greater flexibility, especially when it comes to variable data printing. Does the nature of the job require you to change text, graphics or images from one printed label to the other? Digital printers don’t require the operator to stop the printing process. Instead, all the changes are made on-the-fly, without losing valuable time.
Because such features Digital printers are making their way for the short run corrugated packaging market.
