Indian company Tata Elxsi is specifically working on the autonomous vehicles which can drive in Indian environment and Indian Traffic, where traffic is non-predictive to a great extent and there are no proper lanes, sometimes non-functioning traffic signals, faded signs and arrangements to support Self-Driving Cars. From what I have read, Tata Elxsi has also created a driving environment in Bangalore where they simulate Indian Traffic roads and traffic to test their vehicles.
Besides there is one more startup in one other state of India, Madhya Pradesh, where they have done some considerable work in algorithms for Self-Driving Car and they are trying to achieve some novel implementations. They are already running their code on a real car now and achieve steering, brake and acceleration autonomously, just like Tata Elxsi.
Hi-Tech Robotics in Delhi, India has created fully autonomous shuttles for know environment and now they are working on Self-Driving Cars as a next phase, so is EC-Mobility and Rucha Engineers based in Aurangabad.
KPIT, Valeo and Visteon Corporations are few other companies who are working on Self-Driving Car research, but they are mostly doing it for some international clients and not for Indian market at the moment.
There are many more Indian Startups / Companies willing to enter this segment if they get some support, right talent and government let them grow.
