Absolutely. Fact-checking has never been more important, but in order to do proper fact-checking you have to know what questions to ask — how to investigate. Here is where journalists, if trained properly, can continue to bring their expertise (by calling on experts). However, the current media environment is not as fertile for investigative reporting as was once the case because ad dollars are such a big driver in the news biz and democratization of media allows anyone to call themselves a reporter.
