5 Tips on Maintaining Your Office Chairs

We are all careful about our car and home maintenance, but we often forget furniture maintenance. All furniture requires careful maintenance. If it is the question of your office chairs, well, it is a must. Your office chairs undergo a lot of wear and tear. The continuous load of weight it holds and the movement it endures loosens its parts. Dirt and dust setting up on the chair also interferes with the way it moves.

Clients visit your office now and then. If your office chairs seem unkempt in the first instance, they will rather have a bad first impression about your office. Moreover, while sitting down if they do not find the chairs to be uncomfortable or fall down accidentally it would not be good for your company’s reputation. Thus, carrying out a proper maintenance is always a necessity.

In general circumstances, one should perform routine maintenance at least at an interval of 6 months. If there are sudden problems they should be taken care of immediately. Carry Out Regular Cleaning

Apply Non-Abrasive Cleaners Only

For cleaning your chairs you should use specific cleaners. By this, we mean that you should purchase leather cleaners for your leather chair, vinyl cleaners for vinyl chairs. Use of abrasive cleaners is strictly prohibited as it might damage the material to a great extent.

If you are having plastic chair arms or bases and leather or vinyl upholstery, use a clean cloth to wipe them. Another thing you can do is to remove spill and stains immediately after spotting them. This will help to upkeep the material and further prevent rusting or staining.

Let the Casters Roll

The casters are yet another important part of the chairs. With every passing day, the wheels of your chair have to encounter with lots and lots of dirt and dust from your shoes, the fur of the carpet, your hair, your food from lunch and what not. All of these things slowly and steadily get caught in your casters. This further obstructs the mobility of the chairs. This is something you would definitely not want to happen. So, flip the chair and remove the grime using vacuum and blowing compressed air. After they are clean you may lubricate them to ensure they are moving smoothly.

Tighten the Screws and Bolts

In some chairs you will find the manufacturers ask to tighten the screws every 6 Months to ensure the Revolving Chairs, are moving smoothly. The right way to do that is going through the chair thoroughly before starting. This will help you notice the condition of each screw and bolt. Tighten the screws by turning them clockwise using appropriate tools. If you see the screws still remain loose even after tightening, you can replace the screws with a better one.

Check The Cylinder

Even after tightening the screws if your chair doesn’t stay in place, it might be an indication that you would have to replace the cylinder. Removing the cylinder is not at all a hectic task. Purchasing might seem a little costly but you can do the removal and insertion yourself, following simple steps.

The Precaution

Direct sunlight can also be an agent to harm your chairs. So, let it stay protected from the direct rays of the sun by setting it somewhere away from the sun’s rays.

Some chairs read that they do not require maintenance at all, why would you risk it when you can do all the task yourself.
