Hollywood is the biggest film industry in the world. Its films are not only watched in the US but all over the world. Through its movies, Hollywood shows different beautiful hairstyles that many people appreciate. However, it must be known that some of the most beautiful hairstyles have been borrowed from people and ethnic groups around the world.
It is a fact that there are thousands of hairstyles in the world and it is difficult to know which is which. However, some hairstyles are distinct and have deep cultural and historical significance for the people that own them. Now I want to talk particularly about tsireya’s hairstyle in avatar 2: the way of waters and its similarity to the hairstyle of the Tigrigna people, which live in Eritrea and northern Ethiopia.
Hair braiding in Tigrigna people has been there for centuries and it has great cultural importance. Women of different ages have different braiding styles and the type of braid a woman does symbolizes different things. Additionally, special braids are used for different occasions like social gatherings, marriage, and funerals.
So looking at the photos, you can see that there has a similar hair braid style to the Tigrinya women. This is my observation and other people might have different observations. But the bottom line is when Hollywood is using something that is of great significance for other people like the Tigrigna people, at least they should give the credit to those beautiful people.
On the other hand, you can thank Hollywood for taking such a beautiful hairstyle and showing it to the whole world. Through movies, we are able to see different people's cultures and learn from them. However, still it would be much better if it is given credit, so people can appreciate that particular culture and its magnificent creative style.
In conclusion, I would like to say that all cultures that are historically unique should be respected as they deserve to be. It is a very small portion of the movie but at the same time, it is of great significance to the people that created it.
