Introduction

As part of our efforts to promote the prosperity of the Vision ecosystem, we offer a comprehensive grant program focused on funding software development and research efforts related to Vision, Vanswap, Game Aggregation Engine, Metaverse Ecosystem products!

Guidelines

Welcome to apply for Grants funding, our program funds a wide range of projects, but our focus is on strong technology projects that add value to the ecosystem.

Generally, your project will be more likely to be accepted if:

  • It presents a well-researched or tested concept and ideally you can show some previous work.
  • You can demonstrate that the project will be maintained after funding is complete, whether through your apparent commitment to the technology, additional funding sources, or an existing business model.
  • Your team has proven experience and/or a strong technical background in relevant languages and technologies. As part of the application, you will be asked to provide team members’ GitHub profiles, which we will check for past activity and code quality. Of course, you can also link to projects on other platforms.
  • Your application is technically detailed and well-defined.
  • You can clearly demonstrate how your project differentiates itself from competitors or implements technologies that do not yet exist in the ecosystem.

Additionally, it must meet the following requirements:

  • All code produced as part of the license must be open source, and it also cannot rely on closed source software for full functionality.
  • We do not award grants to projects that have been targeted for successful token sales.
  • As a general rule, teams are required to complete one grant before applying for another grant.
  • Finally, we do not fund projects that actively encourage gambling, illegal trade, money laundering, or criminal activity in general.

In addition to the information provided in your application, please note that your project will need to adhere to our milestone deliverables guidelines. In particular, we require all projects to create documentation explaining how their projects work.

Finally, we take licensing and the right to be recognized for the work of all teams inside and outside the ecosystem. Using someone else’s work without attribution or indicating that it is not your own work as part of a milestone delivery will result in immediate termination. If you have any questions about how to comply with a specific license, please contact us before submitting and we will be happy to assist you.

We also try to enforce our code of conduct and may block users based on this.

Project ideas

An overview of existing projects in the Vision Meta technology stack and our broad range of project ideas that may be of interest for funding, as well as a list of previously accepted applications can be found here.

A Request for Proposal (RFP) represents a specific idea for a project we wish to implement. Multiple teams may apply for the same RFP, so even if another team has applied to implement an RFP, we invite you to do so if you are interested.

Finally, you don’t need to start your own project to get funding. Instead, some teams choose to port existing work to Substrate as permitted by the relevant licenses, or even contribute to existing open source projects. In the latter case, you should check in advance whether the maintainers of the project are interested in your contributions, and the acceptance of milestones is usually tied to your work on said project.

If you have a good idea of the technical challenges your idea is facing and would like feedback before applying, you can email us and let us know.

Support

The scope of our grant program includes funding and feedback on delivered milestones. This means that we do not offer hands-on support as part of the grant, but if you have specific issues during development, we will do our best to provide you with the right resources.

Process

Fill out Application

Please fill out the Vision Chain application form.

In your application, please clarify how your project contributes to the Vision ecosystem, typically through furthering decentralization, open sourcing code, or helping to secure the Vision network.

Application Review

Our team will review all applications. If more information is needed, and then schedule a conference call with the team. At that time, we may have further questions or ideas.

We receive many applications and work as quickly as we can to process them. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible with next steps, typically within 2 weeks.

Decision

Applicants will be notified via email whether their proposal has been accepted or not.

Accepted grant applications may be modified at any time. However, this requires the committee to re-evaluate the new application. If your application has been accepted, and during development you find that your project deviates significantly from the original specification, please modify the existing application and inform the Vision Foundation Team. This also applies in the case of severe delays.

Changes to Grants After Approval

Accepted grant applications may be modified at any time. However, this requires the committee to re-evaluate and receive the same number of approvals (based on level) as the application. If your application has been accepted, and during development you find that your project deviates significantly from the original specification, please open a new pull request modifying the existing application. This also applies in the case of severe delays.

If your delivery schedule changes significantly, please also open a pull request with an updated schedule.
