Rounds vs. Regularly Scheduled Series (RSS)
Rounds vs. Regularly Scheduled Series (RSS)

Continuing Medical Education (CME) helps those in the medical field maintain competence and learn about new and developing areas of their field. These activities may take place as a Regularly Scheduled Series (RSS).

An activity is identified as a RSS when it is:

1. a series with multiple sessions that
2. occur on an ongoing basis (offered weekly, monthly, or quarterly) and
3. are primarily planned by and presented to the accredited organization’s professional staff.

Examples of activities that are planned and presented as a Regularly Scheduled Series are Grand Rounds, Specialty Boards, Case Conferences, and Morbidity & Mortality (M&M) Conferences.

Rounds are when the medical team visits each inpatient as a group to review a patient status and care plan. Rounds are not activities of a RSS.
